moo is not mooing.

Last updated: September 2026

if the nudges stopped, this page is almost certainly the fix. work down it in order, because the first item is the cause about nine times out of ten on android. and if you were expecting one nudge an hour, skip to number four, because nothing is broken.

1. your phone put moo to sleep

android, and usually samsung. android saves battery by freezing apps in the background, and a frozen moo cannot nudge you. this is the number one cause and it is not something the app can override.

on samsung:

other android phones have the same setting under a different name. look for battery optimisation, app standby, or protected apps, and tell your phone to leave moo alone.

2. the notification categories are switched off separately

android can silence a specific kind of notification while the app itself still looks allowed. settings, then apps, then SuperMoo, then notifications, and check that the categories underneath the main toggle are on too.

3. something is muting your whole phone on a schedule

check do not disturb, and on samsung check modes and routines. a work mode or a sleep schedule set months ago will quietly swallow everything.

4. how many nudges you should actually be getting

worth knowing before you go hunting for a fault.

on the free version, moo nudges you five times a day, at 10:00, 11:45, 1:30, 3:15 and 5:00. that is it. it is not once an hour.

with premium you pick your own times and how often, up to once an hour, and choose which days.

so if you were expecting one an hour on the free version, nothing is broken. that is just the free tier, and we are sorry if we gave you the wrong impression.

5. moo goes quiet on purpose sometimes

this surprises people, and it is deliberate.

if you have just mooooved, moo skips the next nudge. it would be rude to nag someone who already did the thing.

and once you hit your daily goal, moo stops nudging for the rest of the day. you get one proud ping and then quiet until tomorrow. dracu-moo hates this.

the reminders screen in the app always tells you what is coming next, including when moo has decided to leave you alone. if it says moo is off duty, that is the app working, not failing.

still nothing?

email us at supermoo@reweave.org and tell us your phone, your android or ios version, and what the reminders screen says the next nudge is. that last one narrows it down faster than anything else.

we read everything, and a real person replies. well. moo dictates and a person types.
